What makes a great artist?

One can not decipher what makes a great artist without comparing it to a good artist. 

You see, A good artist is one that can mimic a picture or scene on his or her canvas. A good artist understands the different areas of light and shadows. And a good artist is one that can mix colors to match what is reveled on the surface. Although a good artist is clearly talented they lack passion for what they do. This type of artist does not scratch beneath the surface for any hidden emotions rather they scan the photo like a copy machine and print out an exact replica. 

Like a good artist, a great artist understands the numerous areas if light and shadows is one that can mix colors to match what is reveled on the surface. However a great artist is one that scratches beneath the surface to find hidden colors and tones. A great artist is one that creatively and harmoniously plays with light and color to create a scene that tells a story, and evokes a mood through the viewer. 

What is the point of drawing or painting a picture if one only makes it look the same. To me art is about reinventing the world through ones own eyes and creating a different and unique piece of art each time. Although I am not the most talented artist I strive to be like the great artist and always try to create an emotion or  hidden meaning through out my piece to allow my viewers feel, relate too or even be inspired by what I do.
